Source: Gratisography
Hello to all tech enthusiast out there who are about to/ planning to start their own technology blog/websites soon. If you are reading this article then good job because you are at the very right place. As a former tech blogger I will be sharing my personal experiences with you about 'WHAT TO DO' and 'WHAT NOT TO DO'. I will share with you the best and exclusive ways to own a successful website that can appear at the top of Google search results.

Technology world has an ever changing scenario and there is some new product launching every now and then. People love technology. Bloggers love blogging about technology because it is always hot and happening and it attracts a very heavy amount of traffic. So now without wasting much of your time let's start.

Things to do-

  • Stay up to date: There are millions of tech bloggers out there and most of them are professionals. Competing with them is often very hard but its not impossible. Always stay up to date, get subscriptions of newsletters on the leading technology and news sites for information. Join developer, beta or insider programs organised by major companies. This way you will get to know about a product details. Also keep a watch at the reliable sites that provides leaks. Apply for launching events in your town if possible.
  • Do hands on review: For a good blogger it is important to actually interact with content themselves with which they are dealing. For example, in order to write a review of a new smartphone, try to use it yourself and then write your own experiences with the device. Upload the result of your tests on posts. I know it can can be hard for you to get hands on every new device yourself, so look out for the best electronic store in your town and ask them to have deal with them write the reviews under their sponsorship. This way its a win win for both of you and you won't be thrown out (i hope).
  • Comparison Tests: People all around the world are always confused about which product to by over the other. Make their lives easier. Do a comparison test among similar competing products and write an in-depth review about them. From my experiences, it is these posts that attracts the maximum visitors. Also write these comparisons based on various price ranges, eg: Best smartphone under $200, Best dSLR under $800, etc.
  • Get a YouTube channel: This is a great way to interact with you viewers as people like to watch hands-on reviews and comparison tests more than reading them. I would seriously recommend that you involve your readers with your review process, thrust me there are tonnes of YouTube channel doing the same thing and if you are something different than them it will do wonders.
  • Tips and Hacks: Not everyone's a geek like you and me who know a lot of secrets about their technology, but that doesn't mean that they don't want to be like us. Always do a section on Tips n Tricks and Hacks. Share your knowledge with them, also if you have developed a new hack for your device then share if online and it will be a hit in an instant. Eg: How to root your Android device, How to install third party softwares, etc.
  • A piece about the future: Write about the techs that may make their appearances in the future. Do some article on robotics, AI and space age. These are some of the most up and coming topics that is assured to take place.

Things to avoid-

    • Don't be a copycat: Well this is a universal tip for every blogger out there. You must not rip off article from someone else's site for your blog, for one thing that if someone reports it to Google, your blog will see a significant drop in traffic and you won't be able to enjoy services like Adsense and more.
    • Acknowledge the source: Its not like everyone always write their own articles, sometimes they re-blog or share some articles of bigger sites, like Mashable may post an article from PCMag, but they always refer the 'Source' of the context and you should do it too. Avoiding this would be the same of that if point one.

I hope I have covered most of the things and I hope you liked it. Comment below if you think I missed on something or if you have any feedback.

    Happy blogging!
